The United Reformed Church
The United Reformed Church (URC) is a vibrant and inclusive Christian denomination in the United Kingdom, formed in 1972 through the union of the Congregational Church in England and Wales and the Presbyterian Church of England. Our mission is to share the love of Christ and promote justice, peace, and reconciliation in our communities.
With a commitment to social justice, the URC actively engages in various outreach programs aimed at supporting the marginalized and vulnerable members of society. We believe in the importance of community involvement and encourage our congregations to participate in local initiatives that foster positive change.
The church is governed by a synodical structure, which allows for democratic participation from all members. Our leadership comprises ministers, elders, and lay representatives who work collaboratively to guide the church’s mission and vision.
In addition to worship services, the URC offers a range of activities including Bible study groups, youth programs, and community events that cater to all ages. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued.
The United Reformed Church also places a strong emphasis on environmental stewardship, advocating for sustainable practices within our congregations and communities. We are committed to caring for God’s creation and promoting ecological awareness.
Through our ecumenical partnerships, we work alongside other denominations to promote unity and collaboration in addressing societal issues. Our vision is to be a church that reflects the diversity of God’s people and serves as a beacon of hope in a changing world.
As we look to the future, the URC remains dedicated to nurturing faith, fostering community, and making a meaningful impact both locally and globally.
