We believe those living with dementia and their carers are the true experts. Our mission is to transform the Colne Valley and surrounding areas into a benchmark for inclusivity. No one is excluded. This is an on-site volunteer role located in Huddersfield. The Community Volunteer will assist with organizing and facilitating support group activities for people living with dementia and their carers. Responsibilities include providing guidance, emotional support, and companionship, helping with event planning, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment. Volunteers will also assist in setting up and tidying spaces for meetings, and support with any administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Empathy, active listening, and strong interpersonal communication skills to provide emotional support and build connections.
  • Organizational and event planning skills to help coordinate group activities or events effectively.
  • Adaptability, patience, and sensitivity to understand and respond to the needs of individuals with dementia and their carers.
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills to work alongside other volunteers and support group facilitators.
  • A positive and supportive attitude toward individuals living with dementia and their families is essential.
  • Previous experience working with vulnerable groups or in a caregiving role is a plus but not mandatory.
