Main Purpose of position:

The role of a Military Mentor is to support young children who may need additional support within the classroom environment each day. A Military Mentor will be part of the school team and therefore will support classes and individuals from KS1 / KS2 in a Primary School setting. The roles may vary from being a 1-1 support, to then a classroom teaching assistant and overall a key role model throughout school.

Duties:

  • Deliver high quality teaching and learning to a range of learners in different environments.
  • Carry out associated organisational and administrative work.
  • Prepare teaching and learning activities.
  • Promote and monitor the highest standards of personal development, behaviour and welfare to students throughout the training projects delivered.
  • Keep up to date with subject/occupational knowledge and practice and participate in relevant training activities.
  • Provide cover for others with similar posts as required.
  • Other reasonable duties within the job holder’s capabilities.

This job description will be the subject of regular reviews with the Line Manager and may change following consultation.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Served a minimum of 4 years within the UK Military.
  • Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy or GCSE English & Maths C or above.
