Define, develop and deliver UKATC’s commercial business development offering, creating new routes for income generation and partner engagement across the organisation’s varied customer base. As this is a new role within a new organisational structure, the postholder will play a central role in shaping the commercial offer, testing how it is positioned and rolled out, and delivering against agreed commercial targets. The ultimate goal is to build commercial activity that strengthens UKATC’s ability to support the adoption of agri-tech technologies and solutions at scale.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead the development of UKATC’s commercial business development offer, including the proposition, customer segments, pricing approach, delivery model and route to market.
· Identify, develop and manage commercial opportunities with potential partners across UKATC’s customer base, including startups, SMEs, corporates, supply-chain organisations, funders and wider sector stakeholders.
· Work closely with the internal analytics team to design, develop and control a range of commercially relevant insight products, services or partner offers.
· Build and manage a qualified pipeline of commercial opportunities, ensuring activity is prioritised against strategic fit, income potential, deliverability and customer value.
· Develop proposals, scopes, pricing assumptions and delivery plans that support robust commercial decision-making and clear partner expectations.
· Track performance against commercial targets, capture learning from initial roll-out activity and refine the offer as UKATC’s commercial model develops.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
· Strong business development experience, with a track record of developing commercial propositions, managing partner relationships and delivering against income or growth targets.
· Ability to shape new commercial activity in an evolving environment, balancing strategic design with practical delivery and early market testing.
· Good commercial judgement, including the ability to assess opportunity quality, customer value, pricing assumptions, risk and deliverability.
· Confidence working with analytical, insight or data-led products and translating customer needs into clear commercial requirements.
· Strong communication, negotiation and proposal development skills, with the ability to work across internal teams and external partners.
· Experience in agri-tech, food systems, innovation support, insight services, membership models, consultancy or commercial partnerships
