Salary: Main Professional Grade (MPS/UPS)

The school reserves the right to close this vacancy early if we identify a suitable candidate for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.

We are looking for an inspiring History Teacher (with the potential for additional responsibilities within the department) to work at Ealing Fields CoE High School, within our successful multi-academy Trust based in the Borough of Ealing. We offer comprehensive CPD, exciting development opportunities and good promotion prospects for our teachers.

The school offers a diverse history curriculum which aims to teach our students to be powerful conceptual thinkers. The basis of good history is a strong argument and our curriculum asks students to question and interrogate the value of evidence from the past, create their own arguments and question the arguments of others, as they learn about a wide variety of historical topics relating to both Britain and the wider world.

At Ealing Fields, history is a very popular subject at GCSE with students studying the AQA specification. Ealing Fields CoE High School has consistently ranked in the top 1% of schools nationally over the last five years for the progress of its students, and the Trust has been recognised as the number one multi‑academy Trust in the country for the progress of its disadvantaged students.

The new post‑holder will join a dynamic, ambitious and enthusiastic staff group that seeks to deliver an outstanding curriculum and will be well supported by an experienced Senior Leadership Team. For the right candidate, additional responsibilities within the department can be created with appropriate TRLs and we would be happy to share and discuss this at interview on a 1:1 basis. The job description would be adapted inline with the conversation. The role is suitable for ECT applicants.

We offer:

  • Exceptional professional development and career progression
  • Positive working relationships at all levels
  • Opportunity to gain experience within four different Trust schools with a common commitment to professional collaboration

The successful candidate will have:

  • A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status
  • Ability to teach History to at least KS4
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the National Curriculum
  • An understanding of recent curriculum / learning developments
  • An understanding of the strategies required to motivate and enthuse all students across the ability range as part of a whole school approach to raising achievement
  • An understanding of the processes and techniques required to assess, record and report students’ learning effectively
  • Ability to be reflective and driven towards self‑improvement
  • A commitment to the ethos of the school

The school reserves the right to research shortlisted candidates on social media platforms and the internet, and the recruitment panel may take this information into consideration during the recruitment process. The Twyford Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to undergo the child protection screening appropriate to the post, including an enhanced disclosure from the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) and references from previous employers.

The post‑holder will also be expected to read and adhere to the Trust’s Child Protection Policy, and any other Safeguarding documents stated within this.

The Twyford Church of England Academy Trust is committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce which represents our context and wider community. We are aware that those of Global Majority Heritage/United Kingdom Minority Ethnic (GMH/UKME) and disabled people are currently under‑represented among our staff, and we particularly encourage applications from those with the relevant skills and experience that will increase this representation.
