We are seeking a reliable and motivated Warehouse Operative to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of warehouse activities, including materials handling, stock management, and shipping and receiving processes. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a dynamic logistics environment, contributing to efficient warehouse operations. Previous warehouse experience and mechanical knowledge are advantageous, but full training will be provided for suitable applicants. The position involves physically demanding tasks such as heavy lifting and load/unload operations, requiring a proactive approach and attention to safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Handling materials efficiently using appropriate equipment and techniques
  • Operating forklifts safely to load, unload, and move stock around the warehouse
  • Managing stock levels through accurate picking, packing, and stocking procedures
  • Utilising warehouse management systems to track inventory movements and update records
  • Coordinating shipping and receiving activities to ensure timely dispatch and receipt of goods
  • Conducting quality control checks to maintain product standards
  • Assisting with mechanical maintenance or troubleshooting equipment when necessary
  • Ensuring the warehouse environment remains clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations
  • Supporting team members in achieving daily operational targets

Experience

  • Prior experience in a warehouse environment is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
  • Familiarity with materials handling equipment such as forklifts is desirable; certification is advantageous but not mandatory
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) or similar software is beneficial
  • Experience with shipping & receiving processes, picking & packing, and stock management is advantageous
  • Mechanical aptitude or basic mechanical knowledge will be considered a plus
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently over extended periods
  • Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail in quality control tasks
