Who we are

We’re a proudly Northern charity that provides tutoring in schools on a not-for‑profit basis. Our mission is to transform lives through tutoring– we offer subsidised, high‑quality tutoring to young people who might otherwise not have access to a tutor, to support them to unlock their potential. Working directly in partnership with Primary and Secondary schools across the Greater Manchester, Merseyside, and Leeds‑Bradford city regions, we support pupils in Maths, English, and Science. We also work in Alternative Provision (AP) settings and with Looked After Children (LAC).

About the role

Make a difference in young people’s lives in either Primary (Maths and Reading), or Secondary Maths, English, or Science. After applying, and if invited to interview, you’ll tell us which subject you’d prefer to tutor. You’ll plan and deliver tuition for groups of up to three pupils. You’ll form impactful relationships with pupils over the course of a tuition assignment (usually 15 weeks). You will work on a self‑employed basis. Tutoring usually takes place during the school day on the school premises.

What we’re offering

  • Earn ÂŁ24 / ÂŁ28.50 minimum to plan and deliver each hour of tuition.
  • Ongoing training and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) opportunities from our in‑house team of qualified teachers and PGCE trainers from The University of Manchester’s Institute of Education (MIE).
  • Job satisfaction in a rewarding role where you can help pupils on a more individualised basis.
  • Your pay will normally depend on if you’ve completed your ECT years.

Applicants must:

  • Be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check, provided and paid for by Tutor Trust.
  • Be able to register as self‑employed in the UK.
  • Have a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

The Tutor Trust is committed to safeguarding and takes its responsibility seriously. It is a legal requirement that all our tutors have an enhanced DBS check on the update service (which would be paid for by The Tutor Trust). It is an offence to apply for a role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
