The Turing Trust

The Turing Trust is a growing international IT charity based in Edinburgh, working to bridge the digital divide through the reuse of technology.

We refurbish donated computers, install educational software, and redeploy them to schools and communities around the world that need them most. By extending the life of IT equipment, we help provide access to digital skills while also reducing e-waste and supporting sustainability.

Founded by the family of Alan Turing, our mission is simple: to enable IT-supported learning for everyone, everywhere. Our work spans both the UK and international programmes, helping teachers and students build the digital skills needed for education, work, and opportunity.

To date, we’ve supported over 350,000 learners to access digital education through donated and refurbished computers - and we’re continuing to grow our impact globally.

Role Description

Are you a self-starter who thrives in dynamic environments, work organised and structured, and loves wearing different hats?

We’re looking for a Fundraising, Grants & Marketing Coordinator to sit right at the heart of our operations. You’ll be our primary bridge between field operations, grantmakers, and our community of supporters. One day you might be writing a grant application to secure funding, the next you’ll be down in the workshop capturing a quick video of computers being packed for Malawi, or writing a catchy newsletter.

If you love variety, find creative ways to solve problems, and aren't afraid to dive in and figure things out when there isn't a pre-made manual, this role is for you!

What You’ll Do

  • Grants & Field Reporting (~50%): Manage grant applications end-to-end, track data and outcomes, and work directly with field teams in the UK and Malawi to turn operational progress into clear, professional impact reports.
  • Fundraising & Donor Engagement (~30%): Keep our cash fundraising engine running! Build relationships by thanking our donors, lead digital fundraising campaigns, and test new strategies to grow our donor community.
  • Marketing & Storytelling (~20%): Hunt down great photos and videos from our workshop and international projects, work with our digital partners, manage social media and newsletters, and keep our website fresh.
  • All-Hands Team Support: Step in during peak times to help out with operational needs like our IT Donations team. We’re a collaborative team where everyone jumps in to help get computers to students who need them.

What We’re Looking For

  • Self-Starting Initiative: You don't wait to be handed a to-do list; you spot opportunities, ask questions, and push projects forward independently.
  • Creating Clarity & Structure: You excel at taking broad ideas, raw operational updates, or high-level briefs and turning them into polished grant proposals, compelling campaign posts, and clear action plans.
  • A Creative Eye & Great Communicator: Good written English with a knack for translating complex impact into engaging stories. Experience with tools like Canva, Mailchimp, Airtable, or simple video editing is a big plus!
  • People Skills: You’re comfortable reaching across departments - from workshop volunteers to international delivery partners - to collect data, gather photos, and build relationships

We’d love it if you brought experience in any of these (but don't worry if you don't):

  • Experience in grant writing, bid management, or keeping key financial stakeholders happy is a plus.
  • Team Engagement: You know how to get what you need from people without relying on emails and spreadsheets alone. You’re comfortable walking up to workshop teams or chasing down project leads to grab the media, data, and stories required to keep our funders thrilled.
  • Experience with design, video, or marketing tools - like Canva, Mailchimp, Airtable, simple phone video editing and social media - to help bring those funder updates and public campaigns to life.

A Note on Experience

We know this is a long list, but what matters most is being able to keep an eye on the highest priorities and being able to move focus when it’s needed.

If you meet some, but not all, of the requirements and are a quick learner with a can-do attitude, we encourage you to apply.
