Role Overview

The Trust Board, through its appointed and elected Trustees, plays a distinctive and essential role in the continuing success and development of the school. The Clerk’s job is to work with the Chair and other Trustees, dealing with administrative matters for the Trust Board. Central to this role is preparing for, taking notes at and producing minutes for meetings. Integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential.

Responsibilities

  • The position involves 6 hours per Trust Board meeting and 4 hours per Finance & Audit Committee meeting.
  • There are six full Trust Board meetings and three Finance & Audit Committee meetings per year.
  • Additional hours will be paid at the same rate if required.
  • Meetings are usually held on Tuesday evenings out of school hours.

Legal Requirements

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent organisational skills with a knowledge of minute taking and record keeping.
  • Highly organised, confidentiality aware and able to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communicator with strong literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of governance procedures and legislative requirements, or a willingness to attend training and the aptitude to develop this.

Benefits

Payment is Scale 7, points 19-24. £16.62 per hour – £18.35 per hour, dependent on experience.
