Job summary:

To support the Bar Manager in overseeing the bar operations at our venue in East London and delivering the departmental action plan in line with the strategic vision. You will support the development and implementation of the bar and overall Catering strategy. Ensuring that services provided are appropriately aligned to the changing needs of the clients. You will assist in the training of the team to deliver high levels of customer satisfaction and support the Bar Manager in the operation of the venue. You will work closely with the Bar Manager on objectives and work independently on shifts. Together with the General Manager and Bar Manager, the Assistant Bar Manager will promote and grow the business, train bar staff, and ensure that patrons are receiving excellent service. In the Bar Manager's absence, you will also manage inventory and resources, plan promotional sales, ensure that quality and safety controls are followed, create schedules, and set business objectives to increase profits and maximise customer satisfaction.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Operational Excellence: Managing the business aspects of the bar with a hands-on customer service approach, taking inventory and reordering supplies. Helping to manage budgets, set goals and plan promotional offers in liaison with the Bar Manager.
  • Staff Leadership and Development: Training staff to provide excellent service to patrons as well as creating effective schedules in the absence of the Bar Manager and quickly resolving any conflicts to ensure that the bar is well staffed during peak hours.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Setting and enforcing quality and safety controls. Ensuring licence conditions are effectively followed by all.
  • Helping to maintain a positive environment: Working with diverse personalities, including both staff and patrons and helping to maintain a fun and safe atmosphere for patrons.

Requirements:

  • At least one year of experience working as Assistant Manager or few years of experience on a Supervisor position within a busy bar, pub, restaurant.
  • Ideal candidate would be a Personal Licence holder, and have thorough knowledge of bartending including, ideally, mixologist background/experience.

Professional skills:

  • Ability to think critically and efficiently.
  • Proven ability to multitask and remain composed in high-pressure situations.
  • Extensive knowledge of drinks, current drink trends, and bar management.

Personal qualities:

  • Skilled communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, and a diplomatic, flexible problem-solver able to use own initiative.
  • Great leadership qualities.
  • A creative, upbeat team player, able to motivate staff and nourish a joyous, richly diverse atmosphere.

Commitment:

Willingness to work long hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.
