We have an excellent opportunity for an Undergraduate with an Actuarial, Mathematical, or Statistical/Quantitative background to undertake a placement year in our London Actuarial team. This role will start in the summer of 2027 and run for the 2027/28 academic year, providing analytical and actuarial support to the Travelers Actuarial team assisting in delivering reserving, management information, planning and underwriting support. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement.
What Will You Do?
- Support the quarterly reserving process.
- Perform monthly and quarterly uploads and check the data warehouse uploads.
- Assist in corporate planning.
- Participate in large case pricing projects.
- Conduct portfolio analysis.
Process Improvement Project
- Develop exposure to coding in Python and SQL.
- Assist senior actuarial team members in running, producing, and checking regular reports, management information, and exhibits for reserving and planning exercise portfolio review.
- Update and improve documentation of existing and new processes.
- Support ad‑hoc tasks for the actuarial department.
Must Have
- Currently studying an Actuarial, Mathematical, or related degree and eligible to take a placement year before completing the final year of study.
- Strong analytical skills and excellent written and verbal communication.
- Desire to build relationships across the business.
Work Arrangement
The role offers full‑time employees three days a week in the office and two days at home, with variations for part‑time employees under the Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy.
