What Is the Opportunity? Join our innovative team of Architects at the forefront of a major transformation program within the insurance industry. As a Senior Architect, you will play a pivotal role in revolutionising our technology systems. Embrace the power of AI as we integrate cutting‑edge technology across all facets of our business and technology landscape. In this exciting role, you will support the execution of architectural and technological strategies that drive the development and implementation of initiatives rooted in Common Delivery, Services‑Based Architecture, and Agility. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping our Technology and API strategies, leveraging increased automation through APIs and event‑driven architectures across our technology estate. You will provide visionary technical leadership for complex applications, guiding our team through the intricacies of modern architecture.
Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro rata for part‑time employees). This policy may be changed at the company’s discretion.
What Will You Do?
- Participates in or leads part of efforts in association with solutions, roadmaps, and architectural recommendations.
- Facilitates and/or executes the governance process (i.e. blueprint and design reviews) for projects.
- Implements the strategy for stability and performance of solutions (including project level design, debug and performance analysis) at the applications and technology domains level.
- Provides input into portfolio or prioritisation process as well as how escalation for remediation of application stability and performance will be managed for scope.
- Ability to prioritise on his/her own.
- Contributes to and influences adoption of new concepts, ideas, techniques, best practices and technology assistance.
- Collaborates with other architects, development groups, and OAI‑Sys employees.
- May participate in enterprise engagements and initiatives like Centers of Excellence and owns deliverables associated with these efforts.
- May participate in development and production support of application utilities and owns deliverables associated with these efforts.
- May participate in vendor and product management strategies to establish required infrastructures and frameworks and owns deliverables associated with these efforts.
- Owns deliverables associated with product evaluations and Proof of Concepts.
- Participates in the day to day execution of the architectural strategy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
- Working knowledge of architecture technology directions.
- Working knowledge in enterprise, application, and information architecture.
- Working knowledge of product and/or project management and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- General knowledge of technical reference architectures in Java, .NET, SQL and SOA required.
- General knowledge of experience with influencing people in a matrixed organisation.
- Thorough knowledge of experience in multiple technologies and architectures.
- General knowledge of Insurance industry experience.
- General knowledge of experience in engaging with business stakeholders and turning requirements into IT solutions required.
- General knowledge of experience in providing architecture guidance to Development Teams.
- Thorough knowledge of experience in multiple technologies and architectures including: J2EE Web Application Development, Service-Oriented Architecture & Web Services, Application Frameworks, Middleware Technologies, Relational Database Design, Document, Imaging, and Web Content Management, Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse, and ETL, Transaction Design, Component Based Design, Application Integration, Performance Engineering.

Able to develop solutions by applying accepted processes or creating new approaches to leverage technology from abstract information. Optimises the use of all available resources. Bases decisions on an accurate understanding of the situation. Keeps apprised of industry trends and applies this knowledge to business solutions. Maintains partnerships across the organisation, and is able to influence peers and their management through an inclusive style and recognition of their abilities to achieve results. The success of the team is above own interest. Manages cross‑functional objectives and/or priorities supporting assigned business area(s). Responsibilities are assigned with latitude for decision making. Results reviewed periodically according to predefined objectives. Sets level of risk taking, and gathers/synthesises information to all appropriate levels of the organisation. Supports all planning and budgeting/estimating done on a project level and is supportive of the business strategic plans.
