What Is the Opportunity? At Travelers, we're in the business of risk - we take the risk so our customers don't have to, but we don't like surprises. Our Catastrophe Risk Management team makes sure we understand our exposure and ensures that no loss from natural or man-made catastrophes, across all areas of our business (property and casualty), comes as a surprise. As our new Jr. Analyst, Catastrophe (CAT) Risk, you'll play a key role in making this happen by ensuring our data is accurate, properly modelled, and brought to life through insightful analytics. You'll join a diverse, experienced team with strong expertise in catastrophe risk and enjoy excellent opportunities to learn, grow, and progress your career.

You’ll be excited by understanding complex processes and modernising them using contemporary techniques and tooling (knowledge of Python, KNIME, Databricks, or equivalent is an advantage), ultimately turning highly complex catastrophe data into actionable insights. This position is ideal for someone with an aggregation data entry background looking to move into CAT Risk and learn modern data analysis techniques, or for a STEM graduate eager to gain hands‑on data experience and learn the ropes. If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

What Will You Do?

  • Work with Underwriting and operations to support catastrophe risk data processing and ensure any issues are resolved in line with reporting and project deadlines.
  • Perform basic analysis on exposure movements and aggregations.
  • Work to build up knowledge of CAT Ecosystem modelling for metrics, reports and exposure data.
  • Support the Pre U/W CAT modelling process.
  • Support the refresh of basic analytical processes and exposure management monitoring.
  • Provide training on aggregate data entry and ensure that standard operating procedures are maintained for inhouse tasks as well as outsourced data processing.
  • Support the data processing on more complex cases that cannot be completed by the operations department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • General knowledge of working with aggregations data.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft suite, SQL, geospatial, statistical packages or other programs used to retrieve and analyze data.
  • Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to pay attention to detail and effectively convey information to peers.
  • Ability to follow through on tasks/projects.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

What is a Must Have?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), Business, or a related field.

What Is in It for You?

  • Private Medical Insurance: On commencement of employment, you are eligible for single cover provided by Travelers, with the option to add cover for your dependents, at your expense through payroll deduction.
  • Retirement: Travelers will make a core contribution of a percentage of salary to your Pension Plan. Additionally, if you decide to contribute to the plan, you will receive an increased company contribution.
  • Holiday Entitlement: Start your career at Travelers with a minimum of 25 days holiday entitlement annually, plus the opportunity to purchase additional days to allow for up to a total of 35 holidays per year.
  • Wellness Programme: The Travelers wellness programme is comprised of tools, discounts and resources that empower you to achieve your wellness goals and caregiving needs. In addition, our mental health programme provides access to free professional counseling services and other resources that support your daily life needs.
  • Volunteer Encouragement: We have a deep commitment to the communities we serve and encourage our employees to get involved. Travelers has a Matching Gift and Volunteer Rewards programme that enables you to give back to the charity of your choice.

Employment Practices: Travelers is an equal opportunity employer.
