What Is the Opportunity? We are looking for an Assistant Underwriting Portfolio Analyst to join our team in London. In this role, you will be working with data sets and using a suite of dashboards to generate regular and ad‑hoc reports. We are keen to hear from candidates with an interest in AI and emerging technology, a STEM background, early careers apprenticeship experience, or strong Maths A‑level results. These are preferred but not a pre‑requisite for the role. A genuine enthusiasm for learning and developing is just as important to us as technical experience. What Will You Do?
- Portfolio reviews – Assist in the delivery of quarterly and annual review packs across all planning lines, ensuring consistent formatting, accurate data, and clear insight. You’ll help track actions, support underwriters through the review process, and highlight emerging trends.
- Portfolio analysis – Support portfolio deep dives by joining meetings with underwriters to understand their book and working alongside other analysts as they lead the process. You’ll bring together various data sources, sense‑check findings with other stakeholders, and help deliver final PowerPoint packs. You’ll contribute to monitoring execution against agreed strategy and collaborate with operations to embed any required changes – such as data corrections or classification updates – into Travelers’ systems.
- Stakeholder collaboration – Support senior analysts in the team and develop strong working relationships with underwriters, actuaries, operations, and distribution teams. You’ll support planning line managers and portfolio leads with performance management activity, helping to coordinate competing priorities and keep stakeholders informed on timelines.
- MI and reporting – Help provide the regular management information the business relies on, bridging gaps while automated reporting is developed. You’ll support the transition of ongoing reporting responsibilities to business intelligence, helping to validate new outputs and improve existing ones.
- Ad‑hoc analysis – Contribute to one‑off requests from underwriters and the underwriting office – such as line‑size reviews, custom data cuts, portfolio mix analysis, and quote analysis – producing accurate, evidence‑based conclusions.
- Data manipulation – Analyse external data and help apply it to Travelers’ strategy. Bring together various datasets into clean, easy‑to‑use databases, assessing their usefulness and accuracy. Use AI tools to streamline manual tasks where appropriate.
- Carry out other duties as needed.
Be Committed, Be Connected, Be Creative and Be Commercial – these are the values we are passionate about. Understanding and embracing our values will shape your success and contribute to making Travelers Europe a great place to work.
