What Is the Opportunity? We are looking for a Regional Distribution Manager in London. You will have experience in a similar Distribution management role, or maybe have a background as a Development Underwriter or Account Manager and you are looking for the next step up. As a Regional Distribution Manager, you will execute the distribution strategy across all lines of business including Financial Lines, Property & Casualty, SME, and Lloyds. You will be responsible for managing all of our strategic partner relationships within your region, delivering a single Travelers proposition. You will help develop and manage the profitable growth across all Planning Lines within the Region by leading and engaging with Underwriting colleagues to maximise visibility and broker interaction across the wider Travelers business.

Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro rata for part-time employees). This policy may be changed at the Company’s discretion. This role is eligible for a £2,500 new joiner bonus. If you are successfully referred by an employee at Travelers Europe, both you and the person who referred you could be eligible for this bonus.

What Will You Do?

  • Manage Travelers’ relationship with key brokers in the region and ensure achievement of agreed business targets and goals.
  • Accountable for sales pipeline process and delivery in the region, including usage of pipeline data, collaboration with Underwriting colleagues across all business lines.
  • Responsible for delivering the Regional “trading platform” including weekly sales meetings and monthly pipeline and broker performance meetings.
  • Support sales training and product training in the Region.
  • Collaborate and engage with underwriters to identify profitable underwriting opportunities, to provide sales oversight and ensure a consistent and appropriate sales approach to broker visits from the relevant region.
  • Maintain visibility across all business lines and stakeholders to ensure understanding of single Travelers' proposition.
  • Deliver robust broker profiling to ensure accurate measurement of share of wallet and opportunity.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of market visibility and quality broker interactions including a strong breadth of working relationships.
  • Obtain market information and feedback from Brokers and assist with market research for product development as required.
  • Monitor and report on regional sales performance.
  • Regularly monitor and review the existing Agency panel within the geographical area and reassess potential, creditworthiness and cost effectiveness of existing agency accounts.
  • Assess new Agency account Applications in conjunction with the Agency Department and within the Company's strict selection criteria.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues in Head Office and with all Business Divisions, Underwriting, Risk Control, Claims, Actuarial and Compliance departments as needed.
  • Be an integral part of the Distribution team and attend company meetings, corporate functions and seminars as required.
  • Keep up to date with and participate in educational opportunities, read professional publications, maintain personal networks and participate in professional body events where appropriate.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Degree level education and/or ACII Qualified or progress towards.
  • Working knowledge of Lloyd's market preferred.
  • Proven experience of developing commercial relationships to build sustainable long-term, profitable business partnerships.
  • Strong experience of building and implementing robust Broker Account Plans.
  • Proven experience of building and executing commercial negotiating strategies and processes.
  • Demonstrable evidence of a wide range of marketing and selling skills and techniques to retain and generate new business.
  • Knowledge of commercial and market drivers, trends etc. and capitalise on them to develop business.
  • Experience of building and executing Pipeline strategies and processes.
  • Effective IT skills.
  • Driving licence.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of Travelers propositions, products and appetite.
  • Ability to identify and manage key Influencers, including Executives, within major businesses.
  • Be able to demonstrate effective brokers account profiling and demonstrate share of wallet.
  • Ability to identify, understand and use data and information to inform good planning and decision-making.
  • Able to effectively collaborate across business lines and areas.
  • Strong prioritisation skills.

What is a Must Have?

  • Proven experience in the commercial insurance industry in a business development role.
  • In-depth knowledge of assigned Accounts: organisation, strategy, internal networks and influencers.
  • In-depth knowledge of local market, financial services, competitors.
