The Role
As Operations Supervisor for Highland Explorer Tours, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional on-tour experiences across our Day Tours and Multi-Day Tours in Scotland. Reporting to the Operations Manager Crew & Fleet, you will line manage approximately 50% of the Edinburgh Driver/Guide team while providing hands-on operational support across tour delivery, safety, compliance, training and team development. This is a practical frontline leadership role where you will make confident decisions, support Driver/Guides in real time and help ensure every tour runs safely, smoothly and to the high standards our guests expect.

What Will You Do?
- Line manage your Driver/Guide team through regular 1-to-1s, performance reviews and welfare check-ins, while managing attendance, sickness, conduct and capability fairly and consistently.
- Provide real-time operational support to Driver/Guides across Edinburgh and Glasgow depots, and Inverness in line with the late-shift rota, including holiday cover where required.
- Make timely operational decisions on routes, timings, weather and disruption, working closely with Customer Services and Fleet teams to resolve issues quickly.
- Ensure Driver/Guides are fully briefed with accurate itineraries and updates, and support on-time vehicle departures and returns across early and late shifts.
- Maintain high standards of safety and compliance, including drivers' hours, tachograph requirements, incident reporting, near misses and depot-level compliance checks.
- Support induction, ride-alongs, on-tour observations and quality assessments, identifying development needs and helping maintain consistent welcome, safety, brand tone and storytelling standards.
- Act as the operational link between Driver/Guides, the Operations Manager and central scheduling and operations teams, sharing feedback on capacity, morale, engagement and operational risks.
- Support recruitment, assessment tours, onboarding and probation, helping build engagement and retention through fair workloads and strong communication.
- Take a hands-on approach when needed, including acting as a stand-in Driver/Guide and assisting with vehicle washing.
About You
- PCV driving licence.
- Experience managing frontline operational staff within tourism, transport, hospitality or logistics.
- Strong organisational and rota-planning skills, with the ability to stay calm and make decisions under pressure.
- Confident handling people, performance and welfare matters with fairness, consistency and approachability.
- Experience managing Driver/Guides or drivers.
- Knowledge of Scottish touring routes and products.
- Understanding of drivers' hours regulations.
- CPC knowledge or experience supporting CPC compliance.
- A practical, hands-on leadership style.
- Highly organised, dependable and comfortable taking responsibility.
- A strong focus on guest experience, safety and professional standards.
- Ability to build trust and respect with frontline teams.
