We’re looking for two Data Developers to join our Product Engineering function, working on an interesting and complex data migration programme that supports our websites, applications and internal systems. This is a hands-on technical development role focused on building and delivering data solutions. It is not a reporting, BI or data analyst position. We’re looking for someone who enjoys writing code, solving technical challenges and working closely with engineers and product teams. This role is ideal for someone with strong Python experience and early commercial exposure to data engineering, data migration or API-led development, who is keen to grow their skills within a collaborative product environment.
The role
As a Data Developer, you’ll be part of a product team contributing to the design, implementation and maintenance of scalable data solutions. You’ll work closely with engineers, product managers and delivery teams to ensure data is accurate, reliable and fit for purpose across the business. Your work will play a key role in enabling seamless digital experiences across Travel Chapter’s platforms.
What you’ll be doing
- Building and maintaining data solutions and applications using modern development tools
- Supporting large-scale data migration activity across websites and applications
- Collaborating with product and delivery colleagues to support timely project delivery
- Supporting data quality processes to ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency
- Participating in code reviews to improve the quality of releases
- Assisting with troubleshooting and resolving production issues
- Keeping up to date with industry trends and best practices
- Providing out-of-hours support on a rota basis where required
What we’re looking for
Essential experience
- Commercial experience using Python (core to the role)
- Experience working with data, APIs or data migrations within applications or platforms
- A good understanding of databases and SQL
- Experience with MySQL and/or MS SQL Server
- Understanding of testing strategies and quality-focused development
- Familiarity with Agile ways of working
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience level
- Ideally 1+ years’ commercial experience in a development-focused role involving data or integrations
- We’re open to candidates earlier in their career who can demonstrate strong technical foundations and a willingness to learn
Desirable
- PHP, JSON, AWS Lambdas
- Building or consuming APIs
- AWS or cloud infrastructure platforms
- Source control tools such as GitLab
- Experience with Salesforce
- Experience with Supercontrol
The skills that matter here
- Curious and keen to understand the bigger picture
- Strong analytical thinking with excellent attention to detail
- Able to test your own work to a good standard before passing to QA
- A confident problem-solver who can challenge constructively
- Diplomatic and thoughtful in how you approach conversations
- Able to balance quality with pragmatism when trade-offs are needed
Why join Travel Chapter?
