At Trainline, SEO is a vital channel within the Growth team. We’re looking for a highly motivated and commercially minded Senior SEO Executive who can support and grow the English-speaking markets.
This role is to work directly with and support the SEO leadership team to deliver increased visibility of Trainline in major search engines as well as offering cross-department support where needed.
The role requires applicants with a passion for Organic Search and learning, who can generate and execute ideas for increasing the web presence of Europe’s leading independent train and coach platform., * Conduct thorough keyword research and use this to write and implement targeted updates to meta titles, descriptions, H1’s and other on-page content changes to drive performance.

Create and publish SEO-optimised editorial-style content and landing page copy across various sections of the Trainline website, in line with our brand tone of voice and style guide.

Checking content and copywriting for local accuracy and effectiveness.

Monitor, evaluate and resolve technical bugs/errors that impact UX and search engine performance.

Monitor competitor performance in local search engines and conduct macro trend analysis to find new content gaps to aid the SEO team and other business decisions.

Help activate those opportunities by implementing on-site SEO optimisation and changes.

Use a range of tools to monitor the SEO health of our website as well as analysing search engine and keyword performance to find valuable opportunities.

Monitor the ever-evolving landscape of AI Search / Generative Engines, formulating strategies to drive organic traffic from these new sources.

Contribute to technical SEO optimisations at scale, for example internal linking.

Provide support to the SEO leadership team to deliver the business objectives.

Work collaboratively with other marketing channels on developing a localised SEO content roadmap to drive performance.

Previous experience working in Enterprise SEO.

Understanding of traditional search engines and the algorithmic ranking factors; how search engines, read, index and value content.

Starting to develop an understanding of Generative Engines and how SEO is expanding (GEO).

Knowledge of optimisation of search engines tools to enhance brand visibility, including schema markup.

Previous experience executing Organic Search strategies.

Skilled Microsoft Office user, especially Excel.

Basic knowledge in using analytics tools such as Google Search Console and Google Analytics, and happy to learn working with new tools.

Familiar with SEO tools such as STAT, Screaming Frog, SEMRush, Botify and Ahrefs.

Ability to devise creative SEO solutions across complex websites.
