A little more about your role: In the role of Engineer working on Overhead Transmission Line projects, you will be responsible for supervising a team of design engineers specialising in Overhead Transmission Lines. This team will be working on a variety of projects encompassing overhead transmission lines ranging from 11kV to 400kV.
- Providing technical evaluations and offering problem‑solving solutions to different team members.
- Prepare written proposals outlining everything stakeholders should know about a project, including the timeline, allocating resources, budget, objectives, and goals.
- Offer technical guidance and input throughout the project implementation, statutory planning, and participation in Public Consultation events.
- Responsible for the engineering and design activities of the team related to the overhead line. This includes PLS‑CADD modelling, line routing, structure analysis and loading trees, developing design criteria, sag‑tension calculations, insulator/conductor blowout, swing angle, damper system recommendations, structure spotting, clearance reports, conductor, and insulator selection, etc.
- Conducting feasibility studies, performing conductor thermal ratings, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Undertake studies to identify a technically preferred solution/layout to take forward to the Client.
- Actively taking part in Industry working groups such as CIGRE, IEEE.
If you have experience of the following we’d love to hear from you:
- A bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline, preferably Electrical or Power engineering.
- Prior experience in overhead line engineering up to 400kV.
- Prior experience on upgrading work projects such as utilisation of High Temperature Low Sag conductors.
- Desirable – PLS CADD/POLE/TOWER.
- Knowledge of conducting galloping studies, EMF and Field Effects Calculation, Wake effect, AC Interference for Gas pipelines would be a plus.
- The ability to travel as projects dictate.
