Meadowbank School is a special school in Cardiff supporting 114 pupils with a wide range of complex learning needs. Since opening in 1976, and expanding its provision in 2018, the school has grown significantly, including the addition of a new purpose-built facility in 2024. The Role

We are seeking an exceptional, compassionate and values‑driven Headteacher to lead Meadowbank in its onward journey. You will provide both strategic leadership and day‑to‑day direction, ensuring a safe, inclusive and enabling environment for all learners. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading vision, culture and school improvement in line with the Curriculum for Wales
  • Ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding, wellbeing and care
  • Championing high‑quality ALN practice and inclusive pedagogy
  • Inspiring, developing and supporting a committed staff team
  • Building a collaborative partnership with governors, families, the local authority and stakeholders
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory and financial responsibilities
  • Leading sustainable improvement aligned with Estyn expectations

This is a visible, hands‑on leadership role requiring empathy, resilience and compassion.
