Following the hugely successful relaunch of The Tipsy Fox, we are building something special in the heart of Southwater. Under new ownership and management, The Tipsy Fox has quickly established itself as one of the area's most exciting hospitality venues, combining quality food, premium drinks, live entertainment, sport, and exceptional service within a vibrant community pub setting. As our food offer continues to grow, we are now looking for an ambitious and talented Head Chef to join our leadership team and help take our kitchen to the next level. This is a genuine opportunity to influence menus, shape standards, develop a team and become a key part of an exciting journey as we continue to invest in the business.
The Role
As Head Chef, you will work closely with the owners and management team to lead all aspects of the kitchen operation. We are looking for someone who understands modern casual dining, takes pride in presentation and consistency, and can deliver great food whilst maintaining strong controls and profitability. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be expected to lead from the front, inspire your team and continuously improve standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all day-to-day kitchen operations
- Recruit, train and develop a small high-performing kitchen team
- Drive food quality, consistency and presentation standards
- Manage food margins, stock control and ordering
- Minimise wastage and maximise profitability
- Create and develop seasonal menus and specials
- Ensure full compliance with food safety and health & safety legislation
- Manage kitchen rotas in line with business demand
- Work collaboratively with front of house and management teams
- Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment
- Deliver exceptional guest experiences through outstanding food
About You
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Head Chef or strong Sous Chef ready for promotion
- Experience within a busy pub, restaurant or casual dining environment
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Excellent organisational and communication abilities
- A passion for fresh food and quality ingredients
- Commercial awareness with experience managing GP and labour costs
- Food Safety Level 3 qualification (desirable)
- A positive, proactive attitude and a desire to continuously improve
