Product Application Support

The Morgan Stanley ( Market Data Support Team is part of the real-time market data (RTMD) production management group, responsible for support and maintenance of core market data platforms. The team supports our distribution system, which supplies real-time data to clients, including direct exchange feeds, vendor feeds, and in-house feeds.

The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, a broad sense of ownership, proactivity, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.

Core Role Activities

  • Work alongside existing team members on a shift basis.
  • Monitor systems and manage outages daily.
  • Handle Ready For Business (RFB) cover and check-outs.
  • Manage end-of-day processes and check-outs.
  • Oversee the RTMD hotline.
  • Participate in project management related to system upgrades and expansions.
  • Fault finding based on problem tickets and escalation from users and IT groups.
  • Coordinate with feed integration teams to facilitate changes.
  • Perform weekend checks and RFB tasks.
  • Provide on-call support as required.
  • Maintain global monitoring processes.
  • Liaise with vendors and exchanges regarding data and feed issues.
  • Participate in the implementation and rollout of new services and products.
  • Perform software decommissioning, installation, and upgrades following change control procedures.
  • Support global Market Data teams in a follow-the-sun support model.
  • Act as an escalation point for application support teams.
  • Validate new services during implementation and rollout.
  • Document and adhere to operational and technical standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Understand and apply contractual and operational requirements.
  • Identify and implement improvements in operational and technical processes.
  • Log incident and problem tickets, manage via Jira and Kanban boards.
  • Participate in Firm Disaster Recovery testing.

Required Skills

  • Good understanding of Linux operating systems and commands.
  • Unix shell scripting skills.
  • Programming experience in Perl/Python.
  • Knowledge of Unix surveillance and troubleshooting tools (grep, awk).
  • Familiarity with Unix system administration and security.
  • Experience with network and real-time messaging technologies (Multicast, TCP/IP, UDP, SNMP).
  • Strong network diagnostic skills.
  • Experience with incident management in IT environments.

Additional Useful Skills

  • Understanding of market data categories (e.g., Equities, options, futures, mutual funds, fixed income).
  • Knowledge of market data concepts (quotes, level 1 and 2, order books, market types).
  • Experience with market data from vendors like Reuters, Bloomberg.
