Are you looking for an opportunity to join a growing business leading the way in shaping the future of BMS and Energy Management systems? We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to provide BMS system designs and project engineering delivery strategies for medium to large BMS projects.
The BMS Design Engineer should fully understand the engineering requirements of building control systems for a range of building types, varying in complexity. You will need a thorough understanding of both mechanical and electrical building systems and be able to work autonomously. The role will require experience of interpreting customer specifications to develop comprehensive designs and scope packages including:
- Panel design
- Hardware configuration
- Field equipment
- Software configuration
- Graphic packages
- Installation and commissioning scope
Candidates must also be prepared to work flexibly as part of the team and be pro-active with modern technologies.
Applicants should have engineering skills as detailed below:
- Electrical and Mechanical systems and plant knowledge
- BMS system design - Development of the full design from initial scope to handover documentation
- Author BMS control system strategy documents
- BMS hardware and software architecture development and best practice
- Preferably have knowledge of leading manufacturers' equipment/systems i.e. Siemens, Honeywell, Trend etc.
We're looking for the following skills and experience:
- Minimum HNC qualification in relevant subject area
- Significant industry experience in control and automation of building systems
- Competent in site surveys, working around live plant and equipment
- A detailed understanding of specialist building systems including BMS, Electrical, Mechanical, fire safety and the BMS aspects of building networks
- Experienced in BMS/control system design, software configuration, graphic generation, control panel design
- Knowledge of PLCs, stand-alone controllers, and energy/power control systems
- Experience in coordinating BMS disciplines with multiple external suppliers and subcontract companies
- Demonstrable complex problem-solving skills
- An initiative-taker and strong team-player, flexible and able to work effectively without close supervision
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and able to develop excellent customer/supplier working relationships
- Ability to lead a small team of engineers would be advantageous
- Ability to conduct pre-sales technical surveys
You will be comfortable working in both an office and construction site environment, and happy to undergo security screening.
