Your role: The features production department is responsible for the sub-editing, production and digital publishing of the features supplements in The Times and The Sunday Times. It is a team of energetic, professional, multi-skilled journalists working across all platforms.

Day to day you will

  • Sub-edit copy and write headlines, standfirsts and furniture to a very high standard for online and print
  • Work with pictures, design, video and graphics on imagery for the website and app
  • Support the head of features production and their deputies to curate, design and publish the features sections on all platforms
  • Understand the requirements and expectations of the various section editors in features
  • Work with the section desks, visuals and production colleagues to produce features sections as efficiently as possible, meeting deadlines
  • Work regularly in the newsroom in London and across a 7 day rota

What we’re looking for from you

  • Experience as a sub-editor for a national newspaper, magazine or digital publisher with a demonstrable interest and enthusiasm for general features
  • Imaginative in writing headlines and other page/digital furniture; aware of the relevance of search engine optimisation and metadata for the digital platforms
  • Strong sub-editor who can adapt to working across platforms with a proven ability to edit copy quickly, accurately and to the highest standard
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to problem-solve and negotiate positive outcomes
  • Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
  • A strong understanding of editorial compliance and regulatory issues
