Your role: The features production department is responsible for the sub‑editing, production and digital publishing of the features supplements in The Times and The Sunday Times. It is a team of energetic, professional, multi‑skilled journalists working across all platforms.

Day to day you will:

  • Sub-edit copy and write headlines, standfirsts and furniture to a very high standard for online and print.
  • Work with pictures, design, video and graphics on imagery for the website and app.
  • Support the head of features production and their deputies to curate, design and publish the features sections on all platforms.
  • Understand the requirements and expectations of the various section editors in features.
  • Work with the section desks, visuals and production colleagues to produce features sections as efficiently as possible, meeting deadlines.
  • Work regularly in the newsroom in London and across a 7 day rota.

What we’re looking for from you:

  • Has experience as a sub-editor for a national newspaper, magazine or digital publisher with a demonstrable interest and enthusiasm for general features.
  • Imaginative in writing headlines and other page/digital furniture; aware of the relevance of search engine optimisation and metadata for the digital platforms.
  • Strong sub-editor who can adapt to working across platforms with a proven ability to edit copy quickly, accurately and to the highest standard.
  • Well‑developed interpersonal skills with the ability to problem‑solve and negotiate positive outcomes.
  • Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • A strong understanding of editorial compliance and regulatory issues.
