As a Production Engineer, you will enable the efficient manufacture of components while continually optimising manufacturing processes. Your expertise in product design, materials, and production equipment capabilities will drive the development and improvement of manufacturing fixtures to meet production demands.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Design and engineer repeatable, reliable fabrication jigs and fixtures from customers' drawings.
  • Ensure all work is carried out to the required HSE standards.
  • Review and implement optimised manufacturing methods whilst ensuring quality requirements, budget costs, and schedules are met.
  • Be involved in new product introduction and design for manufacture.
  • Consult with subcontractors to design, manufacture, and expedite tooling optimised for the operation required.
  • Ensure that all customer specifications and quality requirements are reviewed and incorporated in all activity.
  • Be central to area continuous improvement activities to propose ideas to improve current conditions.
  • Support first article inspections and implement any changes required into the fixture design.
  • Conceive and implement improvement activities to financially benefit the organisation.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and communicate the requirements to stakeholders.
  • Define and produce SOPs/set-up sheets & any documentation required to aid manufacturing.
  • Monitor manufacturing activities, identifying opportunities for improvement, waste elimination, and cost reduction.
  • Support the investigation and root cause analysis of external customer and internal NCRs as required.
  • Ensure corrective & preventive actions are incorporated into existing/future programmes and fixturing.
  • Input/run lessons learned during and after projects to ensure repeat orders are free from duplicate errors.
  • Work with Engineering and Production team members to ensure effective Lessons Learned sessions.
  • Any other duties as reasonably requested by your Line Manager or a member of the Senior Management team.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Minimum 3 years post-apprenticeship experience with a strong background in fabrication and welding.
  • HNC or equivalent.
  • Innovative approach to problem solving.
  • Previous experience of working within a manufacturing engineering environment.
  • Ability to interpret complex mechanical and technical drawings.
  • Excellent customer focus.
  • Budgetary awareness.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively.
  • High level of manufacturing knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to provide practical solutions.
