Thrive Trowbridge are delighted to be working with our client near Chippenham area who are actively looking to recruit a Senior Design Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis. This key role will take responsibility for engineering projects, providing technical leadership across NPD, prototype validation and manufacturing support, and ensures products are delivered in line with customer specifications, on time and within budget.

What you will be doing:

  • Design, develop and deliver a range of complex mechanical and hydraulic systems from concept to production
  • Interpret customer requirements and technical specifications and develop practical engineering solutions within agreed cost and performance parameters
  • Produce accurate 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings and Bills of Materials, considering functionality, safety, manufacturability and aesthetics
  • Carry out engineering calculations covering structural loading, stress considerations, material selection and manufacturability
  • Project management from initial brief through to manufacturing
  • Support and mentor team members

What you will need to succeed:

  • Experience of hydraulic circuit design, system calculations and design of welded fabrications and machined components
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and the production of manufacturing drawings
  • Bills of Materials management within an ERP system, ideally Odoo
  • Excellent IT skills including 3D CAD and Autodesk Inventor
  • A good eye for detail and the ability to solve problems
  • Excellent communication skills as you will be dealing with a variety of individuals
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
