Since 2004, we’ve partnered with clients to help them plan and explore their stories before filming, using our visual storytelling skills and deep filmmaking knowledge to help directors and studios envision their projects in the earliest stages of production. Founded by artists for artists, The Third Floor is a fun, creative studio where we work on high-profile projects while maintaining a collaborative, small-studio culture. In 2022, we expanded with a dedicated animation department that creates final content for film, episodic, and games. Our work has received multiple Emmy and VES awards, and our clients include Disney, Marvel, Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Universal, 20th Century, and many more.
Overall Purpose Of The Role
We are seeking a high performing HR Manager who is enthusiastic about supporting creative talent and is excellent with HR processes and Management. The HR Manager will oversee hiring, champion our culture, contribute to internal comms and support management with high quality HR business partnership. Responsibilities
HR & Talent Management
- Support London staff with HR or talent questions, issues or ideas.
- Provide HR guidance to management and ensure good practice and compliance with employment legislation.
- Liaise regularly with TTF Los Angeles teams on HR and talent matters to ensure we are aligned with shared goals and processes.
- Oversee the process and quality of staff performance reviews. Collect staff peer feedback, review and contribute to staff performance goals and objectives and help facilitate effective management and motivation of staff towards them.
- Collaborate with Casting to help shape and guide the career path of artists
- Partner with the Global L&D Manager to devise and implement staff training and development, focused on helping drive the quality of company output and services.
- Review company policies and ensure accuracy, consistency & alignment with the wider company and industry best practice.
- Manage company benefit schemes. Life insurance, income protection, etc.
- Advise on remuneration on a per hire and company level. Ensure TTFL is a competitive employer by conducting industry benchmarking to inform salary banding.
Administration
- Manage payroll processes and provider.
- Administrate the company holiday calendar and oversee employee time-off requests.Support the smooth and efficient running of the office and home working environment.
- Manage the Talent/HR budget. Get approvals, keep records, process invoices, contract and manage suppliers related to the Talent budget.
- Effective leveraging and administration of TTFL’s HR cloud platform. Objectives, annual leave, personal info, documents, etc.
- Manage the relationship with external employment lawyers, as necessary.
Culture & Communication
- Help develop and express our company values and culture.
- Be a key driver of staff retention efforts.
- Drive positive company morale and cohesion by organising company outings and socials.
- Deliver effective internal communication for all talent and HR related matters.
Hiring & Resource Management
- Consistently identify and plan for ongoing staffing and recruitment needs. Office guidance as TTFL expands and reduces in size responsibly
- Partner with internal TTF Recruiters, in the recruitment and hiring process. Help write job descriptions, publish adverts, screen candidates, schedule interviews. Contribute to conducting interviews, referencing, negotiation and contracting.
- Responsible for hiring paperwork and contracts. Ensure these are compliant and suitable to the company needs. Manage contractual changes, terminations and extensions as per staffing / hiring requirements.
- Build external talent pools (contractors, freelancers, etc) via job boards, LinkedIn, referrals and relationships with talent agencies that can be leveraged to grow quickly in response to commercial opportunities.
- Run staff onboarding and exit processes in coordination with IT, Finance and other teams.
- Oversee a robust staff probation process to ensure the quality of new hires retained in the business.
Essential Skills
- 5+ year’s experience in HR in a similar environment.
- Experienced running recruitment and hiring processes
- CIPD qualified
- Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Up-to-date knowledge of employment laws and best practices in talent management
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels
- Ability to work 2 days a week in London office at Foley Street
Desirable Skills
- VFX / Gaming / Animation industry experience
- Good understanding of client/vendor business model
