Job Purpose: This role will manage the day-to-day People and Culture operations of The Thinking Traveller, including employee relations, recruitment, payroll, and HR operations. You will play a key role in supporting projects that will enhance Thinker engagement and wellbeing, while acting as a business partner to the Company by providing high quality and efficient P&C advice and support in a manner that retains and enhances TTT’s ‘thoughtful’ culture.

Working Partnerships: Senior Leadership Team, Managers, Thinkers, Contractors

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Employee Relations
    • In support of the Director People & Culture, ensure the harmonisation of our four geographic locations (UK, Italy, Greece & US), including alignment of benefits, terms and conditions, and HR and payroll processes plus organisation design/change.
    • Managing complex employee relations casework (dispute resolution, disciplinary, grievance, absence, redundancy, termination).
    • Developing, communicating and implementing new policies, with existing policies and Employee Handbook being reviewed on a rolling basis.
  • Recruitment
    • Managing and planning the recruitment and selection process, assisting and advising line managers in compiling job descriptions, interview questions and role-based assessments.
    • Assisting with shortlisting and attending interviews as required, contributing towards the selection of successful candidates.
    • Utilising the TTT website and other online sources to maximise talent recruitment and minimise recruitment costs.
    • Partnering with external recruiters and managing the PSL, negotiating rates and terms and conditions.
  • Payroll, reward and benefits
    • Overseeing the delivery of monthly payroll processes in UK, Italy, Greece and US (via a PEO model) in support of the People & Culture Advisor, liaising with outsourced payroll providers in each country, ensuring it is processed accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Overseeing the administration of pension and benefits schemes, in support of the People & Culture Advisor.
    • Communicating TTT’s benefits to Thinkers, recommending and facilitating roll-out of new benefit plans and programmes.
    • Supporting the annual pay review process with responsibility for salary benchmarking.
  • HR Operations
    • Providing accurate and timely advice to Thinkers, managers and Senior Leadership Team on all P&C related matters.
    • Overseeing all P&C administration, supporting the People & Culture Advisor with the preparation of contracts, offer letters, contract variation letters and reference requests.
    • Ensuring our HRIS (BambooHR) is kept up to date and accurate at all times and that the system is used to its full potential.
    • Developing reporting on P&C KPIs, providing analysis and recommendations.
    • Supporting the Director of People & Culture with budgeting, headcount planning processes and monthly Board reporting.
  • Performance management
    • Oversight of the annual Performance Development Plan, supporting Thinkers and coaching line managers to achieve optimum feedback and goal setting.
    • Leading with probation reviews, performance management and exit interviews.
  • Training, development and engagement
    • Ensuring all new Thinkers are provided with an exceptional induction programme, alongside the People & Culture Advisor, ensuring TTT’s culture and values are richly established and shared.
    • Working closely with the SLT and managers on training and development initiatives.
    • Supporting SLT with employee engagement initiatives (e.g. welcome lunches and social events, ‘Most Valued Thinker’ scheme, etc.).
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
    • Ensuring communications (job descriptions, internal documents etc.) use gender-neutral and non-discriminatory language.
    • Reviewing selection criteria to verify they’re objective and strictly job-related.
    • Advising managers on how to select, manage, evaluate and retain diverse employees.
    • Recommending benefits that cater to all employees.
    • Designing policies that reinforce diversity in the workplace, address all kinds of harassment and protect minority groups.
    • Organising training for Thinkers on topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Other
    • Sharing knowledge about European and US employment legislation and working practices with the rest of the People & Culture team, and, in turn, developing your working knowledge on changes to employment law and working practices.
    • Supporting Health & Safety requirements for Thinkers.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

  • Demonstrable generalist HR experience at Senior Advisor / Manager level.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and good practice, with ability to deliver advice on a range of HR issues.
  • Experienced in providing European HR support (Italy or Greece preferred) with a working knowledge of relevant employment legislation and working practices.
  • Knowledge and experience of leading payroll processes with outsourced payroll providers.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and supporting line managers and employees through change.
  • Exceptional organisational and communication skills together with proven leadership capabilities.
  • Personable with the ability to build trust and rapport at all levels.
  • Experience of HRIS / LMS is essential (BambooHR preferred).

Desirable

  • Experience of working with EOR and/or PEO models of employment.
  • Fluency in a second language (Greek and/or Italian in particular).
  • CIPD qualification.
