About the Role
Are you passionate about supporting students to overcome language barriers and achieve their full potential? The Portsmouth Academy is seeking to appoint a dedicated EAL Tutor to join our team and play a key role in improving outcomes for students with English as an additional language. As an EAL Tutor, you will provide high-quality small group teaching and one-to-one support to students who are developing their English language skills. You will work closely with teaching staff and leaders to ensure students can fully access the curriculum and thrive within the school environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver targeted small group and individual EAL support to students
- Support the development of students' literacy skills across the curriculum
- Plan and deliver inclusive, adaptive sessions that promote high expectations and progress
- Work collaboratively with teachers to embed effective strategies within the classroom
- Build positive relationships with students encouraging engagement, confidence and aspiration
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people, ideally in an educational setting and a strong understanding of the needs of students with English as an additional language. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships and support learners effectively.
