Are you passionate about giving young children the very best start to their learning journey? New Horizons Children’s Academy are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a fixed term basis. The successful candidate will provide 1:1 learning support under the guidance of the SENCo, together with supporting the class teacher in teaching and welfare in accordance with pupils’ Education, Health and Care Plans or additional educational needs.

Our SEN Teaching Assistant will play a key role in encouraging positive behaviour, promoting self-esteem, and fostering independent learning to support pupils’ overall development and academic progress.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the observation and monitoring of pupil progress.
  • Maintaining accurate records of interventions and tracking achievements.
  • Assisting with the preparation of differentiated learning materials and organising classroom displays.
  • Supporting the delivery of engaging lessons tailored to individual needs.
  • Administering First Aid, subject to appropriate training.

This role is initially offered on a fixed term basis until August 2026.

New Horizons Children’s Academy is a "Good" school (Ofsted May 2022) with a three-form entry that teaches over 600 children from the local community. Our aim is to provide an education that meets the needs of all our children and we expect high standards of behaviour and a positive attitude to learning. There is an ongoing training programme in place, aimed at the development of expertise in a range of cognitive tools, strategies and resources for established and newly appointed staff.
