Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled freelance Upholsterer (London or Scotland based) to join our Fabric Walling team. The ideal candidate must have a background in upholstery, and understand how to tension and stretch fabric with the ability to work with various fabrics plain and patterned. Knowledge and use of tools, staple gun and sewing machine. This role involves preparing walls, stitching fabric, hanging fabric, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.
The majority of our work is West London based, however able to work on location all over the UK. Work isn\'t full-time, so we are looking for a freelance candidate only who can fit projects in around their schedule throughout the year. The candidate should be available to travel for 5-12 days at a time, we often stay near the project either in a hotel or Airbnb. Travel expenses paid for.
Responsibilities
- Preparing walls ready for fabric with battens.
- Use of tools effectively for cutting, sewing, and hanging fabric. Staple gun & sewing machine.
- Able to work all over the UK and Internationally too. Sometimes we might fly to a location (Scotland).
- Happy to work on location; up ladders, occasionally scaffold towers.
- Valid drivers licence.
- No prior fabric walling experience needed but must have upholstery background.
- Happy to work away from home and staying over night in accommodation with others, your own room with be provided.
Skills
- Knowledge related to upholstery techniques and equipment.
- Proficiency in using power tools (staple gun) and hand tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to sew various types of fabrics with precision.
- Physical stamina for working off a ladder and standing for extended periods during work hours.
