Join a high-standard team providing UKAS accredited asbestos surveys and consultancy across domestic, commercial and industrial estates. You will deliver technically robust, defensible asbestos reports and provide practical guidance to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and recognised best practice.
This position is responsible for protecting operational and development environments through the delivery of high-quality, compliant asbestos consultancy services across a diverse portfolio of sites. This role involves planning and completion of asbestos surveys alongside the preparation of precise, defensible and fully auditable technical reports.
Operating both autonomously and within multidisciplinary project teams, you will liaise effectively with clients, UKAS-accredited laboratories and internal stakeholders to ensure all activities are conducted safely, proportionately and in full compliance with UK legislation and recognised industry standards. Reporting to the Asbestos Director, the role supports individual site commissions as well as complex, multi-site programmes across a mix of domestic, commercial and industrial estates.
From your first day, you will apply your practical experience and technical expertise across asbestos surveying and consultancy. You will assume responsibility for increasingly complex client portfolios, take a leading role in project delivery and expand your advisory input on regulatory compliance.
Over time, the position offers a clear progression route into senior consultancy, technical specialism or project management roles, with continued investment in professional development supporting long-term career advancement.
At The Testing Lab, our recruitment process is guided by core capabilities, a framework defining the essential skills, experience, competencies, and responsibilities required to succeed in each role. We aim to identify candidates who meet a high standard of expertise and are well-suited to contribute effectively from day one.

Technical Excellence in Asbestos Management & Compliance
Proficiency in asbestos surveying is backed up by having clear knowledge of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, HSG264 and UKAS requirements. You will determine proportionate methodologies across a range of building types and project stages, customizing sampling strategies, and management guidance in alignment with the risk profile. All decisions will be grounded in evidence, thoroughly documented, and fully auditable, with a proactive commitment to remaining current with regulatory developments and technical best practices.
Risk Assessment and Safety Management
We are seeking a visible safety leader with the ability to proactively identify hazards in operational environments, evaluate risks with precision and implement effective controls while ensuring uninterrupted project delivery. Your composed decision-making under pressure, commitment to continuous improvement and application of lessons learned from incidents, near misses and audits will be central to fostering a culture of safety excellence.
Technical Communication
You will synthesize site data, and observational evidence into comprehensive reports that are accurate, logically structured and aligned with regulatory requirements and client expectations. Your meticulous approach to record-keeping, chain of custody and quality assurance and control procedures ensures the integrity of all outputs. You take full ownership of your work, embrace constructive peer review, proactively address issues and contribute to maintaining consistent UKAS-aligned standards across all deliverables.
Stakeholder Engagement
Expected to act as a trusted technical advisor translating complex risks, survey outcomes and regulatory obligations into clear and actionable guidance. You engage effectively with clients, project managers, contractors, and colleagues, adjusting your communication style to suit both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring informed decision-making.
Operational Delivery & Time Management
You effectively plan and prioritise across multiple sites and deadlines, coordinating travel, surveys and reporting to ensure commitments are met without compromising safety or quality. You operate independently on site while collaborating seamlessly within multidisciplinary teams, leveraging digital survey tools and reporting platforms to deliver work efficiently.
