The Terrace in Yarmouth is the only restaurant on the Isle of Wight listed in the Michelin, AA, Good Food, Hardens and Square Meal Guides. But it isn’t posh or fancy - we just serve nice food in a casual setting. We have a beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking the sea and harbour and an airy dining room with big bifold windows.

Every summer we serve 180 diners daily, seven days a week, which means hiring and training a seasonal team to look after an increased volume of lovely guests. Those who join us will learn a lot about customer service, food, wine, drinks and communication, and there is an opportunity to remain with us as a part-time worker year round. Our average length of service, even for summer workers, is three years.

We look after our seasonal employees. As well as a structured training program that runs at your pace of learning, we offer very generous tips with every team member getting an equal share. Hours are available from 20-50 per week, tips usually come in at about £4ph on top of hourly wage over summer.

For Front of House, the role starts with running food, clearing tables and polishing cutlery. As soon as you are comfortable with how service runs, you’ll begin using the till and making drinks, then you’ll move on to owning your own tables in a section of the restaurant.

To apply you don’t need hospitality experience - although it really helps - but you will need to be reliable and confident with the ability to speak to people you don’t know. You’ll need to be comfortable following clear instructions and asking questions to clarify, and above all you’ll need to be reliable and happy to commit to a regular schedule over summer. If you have a lot of holidays booked with family this is probably not the job for you.

We have three roles available in our Front of House team. One will start in Late March or April, ideally part-time initially, the others will be full time from June and will end in early September.
