About The Role
The graphic designer / animator will join our busy video team to help journalistic and creative concepts come to life. They will help find innovative ways to enhance The Telegraph’s video content on site and on social media platforms.

Key Responsibilities
- To deliver fast turn‑around motion design graphics elements to help our video news producers tell stories visually.
- To proactively suggest design solutions for stories of interest to The Telegraph audience.
- To balance their workload across a mixture of fast‑turnaround productions and long‑lead video projects for use on The Telegraph apps, site and social media platforms.
- To deliver graphics and motion designs quickly and accurately to tight deadlines, particularly for breaking news.
- To develop a close working relationship with the design team and to act as a key communication link between the video desk and relevant designers.
- To work with the Telegraph design department to help evolve existing language into motion assets, and suggest new opportunities within this framework.
- Work comfortably with expressions and essential graphics to create templates, visual systems and branded assets that ensure consistency across The Telegraph’s video output.
- To ensure all visual output meets The Telegraph’s editorial, legal and brand standards.
- To keep up to date with design trends, techniques and platform best practice.
Key Skills
- Motion designer with experience creating motion graphics/design on tight deadlines.
- Organised and willing to take direction – but also full of ideas and able to inspire a brief.
- A collaborative team player who is interested in helping share their skills with others, and who welcomes feedback and discussion about ideas.
- Entrepreneurial with a self‑starting attitude.
- A solid knowledge of a range of social platforms.
- Has in‑depth knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and their industry standard plugins, with a working knowledge of Premiere Pro and AE/PP pipelines.
- A passion for visual storytelling, always looking for new ways to tell stories on screen – for both hard news and fun features.
- Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with editorial teams.
Desirable skills
- Experience creating video in a newsroom or current affairs environment.
- Knowledge of data visualisation and infographics for video.
- Experience creating graphics for social and mobile‑first platforms.
- Illustration skills or experience with 3D or advanced motion design techniques.
