The main purpose of this role is to write compelling travel content that meets our editorial targets and subscriber needs whilst boosting engagement through SEO and social media strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- To generate ideas on a daily basis to enable travel to meet its editorial targets
- To produce inspirational, consumer focused travel content
- To help identify gaps in its coverage to meet the needs of our subscribers
- To support in planning and generating new content, updating and improving existing content and working with other departments to ensure cross-promotion
- To find new ways/ideas to drive engagement with travel content, with a particular focus on social media
Key Skills
- Experience of writing about travel, including features, round-ups, comment, analysis and news
- Good knowledge of travel trends, with an understanding of when and why people book and what they want to read
- Able to edit, check and publish copy, source imagery/video, and create landing pages
- Experience of planning new content and improving existing content, with a good contacts book of experts/writers to call on
- Able to examine and interpret analytical tools
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of SEO, and how to write optimised copy
- Understanding of the importance of great imagery/video
- Must understand the importance of harnessing social channels to drive engagement
