The Telegraph is seeking an experienced and dynamic Executive Producer & Editor to be the driving force of The Daily T, our fast-growing flagship news podcast. This role is central to bringing the creative vision to life, ensuring the podcast delivers compelling, high-quality content that informs, engages, and grows our audience. Reporting to the Director of Audio, the Executive Producer will oversee all aspects of production, from editorial direction to audience growth strategies, while managing a team of producers and hosts to create a fun, dynamic culture in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
Key responsibilities
- Editorial Leadership & Content Strategy
- Oversee the daily editorial agenda, ensuring The Daily T delivers sharp, engaging, and high-quality journalism.
- Work closely with hosts, producers, and reporters to develop storylines, formats, and exclusive content.
- Maintain high editorial and production standards, ensuring accuracy, fairness, and alignment with The Telegraph's brand and values.
- Innovate and evolve The Daily T, introducing new storytelling techniques, audience-focused formats and topic extensions including investigations and interviews.
- Drive and guide guest strategy, ensuring the team proactively liaises with the newsroom and secures high-profile guests ahead of the day/week.
- Foster a collaborative culture that seamlessly integrates the audio team with the newsroom, ensuring alignment, innovation, and a thriving team dynamic in a fast-paced news environment.
- Production Management
- Lead the end-to-end production process, from planning and scripting to recording and post-production.
- Oversee scheduling, episode planning, and workflows to ensure timely and seamless delivery of daily episodes.
- Manage a team of producers and technical staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and feedback to maintain excellence.
- Troubleshoot production challenges and ensure efficiency under tight deadlines.

- Develop and execute audience growth strategies, working with marketing and distribution teams to expand reach.

- Work with commercial teams to develop monetisation opportunities, including sponsorship and branded content integrations.
- Partner with editorial, video, and digital teams to ensure The Daily T complements and enhances The Telegraph's wider journalism.
- Work closely with reporters and correspondents to bring exclusive stories and expert analysis to the podcast.
- Coordinate with the Head of Audio to align The Daily T with The Telegraph's broader audio strategy.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Executive Producer, Senior Producer, or similar role in podcasting, radio, or audio journalism.
- Strong editorial judgment and experience in news or current affairs content.
- A track record of successfully launching and growing podcast audiences in a competitive media landscape.
- Excellent team management skills, with experience leading diverse teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Deep understanding of audio production processes, including scripting, sound design, and editing.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
