Build the teams behind Europe’s most important technology companies.
The opportunity
The Tech Talent Co. builds elite teams for high-stakes inflection points. A first engineer. A founding product leader. A new market. A company moving from technical promise to category leadership. These are hiring decisions where the cost of being wrong is asymmetric. We help founders and investors make them with precision. We optimise for talent density.
We are a small team operating at the frontier of European technology. We partner with Sequoia Capital and work with some of the most ambitious founders, investors and AI companies in the market. Across our careers, our team has helped build companies from zero to tens of billions in valuation and hundreds of millions in ARR. We have operated inside organisations including Meta, Palantir and MongoDB, and alongside founders building the next generation of category-defining companies.
Demand exceeds our capacity. We are hiring one exceptional recruiter to join us. This is not a conventional agency role built around volume, inherited job flow or performative activity metrics. It is a high-autonomy position for someone who wants to operate as a genuine talent adviser: owning difficult searches, applying independent judgment and influencing the composition of companies that may define the next decade.
What you will own
- You will lead critical technical searches from the first conversation through to signed offer.
- Partner directly with founders, executives and investors to establish hiring priorities, sharpen role design and define the bar.
- Translate ambiguous company problems into precise talent thesis and executable search strategies.
- Map narrow, high-value markets across software engineering, AI, data, product and technical leadership.
- Identify rare candidates before the wider market recognises their value.
- Run rigorous, high-trust candidate processes across qualification, engagement, assessment, closing and follow-through.
- Produce concise, evidence-based candidate assessments that help clients make better decisions.
- Challenge weak briefs, confused processes and false urgency rather than simply taking orders.
- Build durable relationships with high-calibre technical talent, not disposable pipelines.
- Contribute to the systems, market intelligence and operating standards that make the entire team better.
You will not be expected to cold-start a desk or spend your week chasing low-conviction business. We operate as one team. Clients, searches, information and opportunity are shared transparently. Business development is rewarded, but delivery quality and client outcomes come first.
Who we are looking for
You should be able to demonstrate a sustained record of high performance in technical recruiting. You are likely to have:
- Recruited software engineers, technical leaders or other scarce technical talent for high-bar technology companies.
- Operated successfully within an elite agency, executive search firm, internal talent team or a combination of the three.
- Developed genuine judgment about technical talent beyond keywords, company logos and interview polish.
- Earned the trust of demanding founders, hiring managers and candidates.
- Closed difficult candidates in competitive markets without relying on pressure, theatre or misrepresentation.
- Managed complex searches with speed, control and vigilance.
- Communicated and written with unusual clarity.
- Consistently been one of the strongest performers in your environment.
- Reached the point where your current platform no longer matches your ambition or ability.
More important than the logo on your CV, you combine sound judgment with ownership, commercial instinct and precision. You communicate candidly, operate without ego and move with urgency without creating chaos. You care more about the right outcome than personal credit. You understand that every interaction compounds into our reputation.
What success looks like
Founders trust your judgment, your candidate submissions consistently carry signal, and candidates experience an informed, honest and well-run process. You can enter an unfamiliar market, develop conviction quickly and produce a high-signal shortlist. Your hires materially strengthen the companies we support, and your relationships, reputation and earning power compound over time. We do not measure excellence by call volume, CVs sent or visible busyness. We measure it by the quality of the decisions and outcomes your work enables.
What you will receive
- Compensation: £120,000–£320,000 OTE, with no ceiling.
- High-quality work from day one: We only hire when we have sufficient premium mandates to support the role.
- No mandatory business-development quota: Originating valuable relationships is rewarded, but it is not required.
- Flexible hours and location: We care about outcomes, not clock-watching.
- Unlimited paid time off: Use judgment and take the time required to sustain strong performance.
- Private healthcare and dental: Fully covered.
- Best-in-class tooling: LinkedIn Recruiter, AI tooling, Notion, Slack, Google Workspace and the infrastructure required to operate at a high level.
- Equipment: A fully specced MacBook.
- Direct access to the founders: Fast decisions, honest feedback and minimal organisational drag.
Apply
This role is for someone who has already proved they can perform and now wants an environment whose standards, work and economics match their ability. Apply with your CV or LinkedIn profile and a short note covering:
- The hardest technical search you have led.
- The hire you are proudest of and why.
- What separates an exceptional recruiter from a competent one.
- Why The Tech Talent Co. is the right platform for your next chapter.
Inclusion
Ability is not concentrated in one background, identity or career path. We assess people on evidence, judgment and potential. You do not need to match every line of this specification, but you do need to demonstrate that you can operate at the standard the role requires.
