Cyber Security Specialist | North Lanarkshire | 4 Days Onsite | £55k - £65k + benefits
www.thetechrecruiter.ai are delighted to be once again partnering with a globally recognised manufacturing and consumer brand to recruit an experienced Cyber Security Specialist to join their growing security function based in North Lanarkshire.
This is a varied role offering an excellent balance between Security Operations (60%) and Security Project work (40%), making it ideal for someone who enjoys both hands-on operational security and shaping secure technology solutions across the enterprise.
The business in question is investing significantly in its technologies and is undergoing a 5-year enterprise digital transformation that will take all services into the cloud where possible. At the heart of this role is the ability to contribute to strengthening cyber resilience, improving security controls, supporting risk decisions, and embedding security across business and technology environments.
The Opportunity
You'll play a key role in enhancing security operations, improving detection and response capabilities, and supporting ongoing cyber security initiatives. You'll also work closely with project and technology teams, taking high-level solution designs and translating them into detailed security requirements and controls that align with organisational standards and secure-by-design principles.
Key Responsibilities
Security Operations (60%)
- Improve security monitoring, detection engineering and incident response capabilities
- Develop and refine security use cases, alert quality and response playbooks
- Conduct security assurance activities, control reviews and testing
- Support cyber risk assessments, control gap analysis and remediation activities
- Contribute to security policies, standards and governance frameworks
- Support security automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency
Security Projects & Architecture (40%)
- Review solution designs and define security requirements for new technology initiatives
- Ensure security controls are embedded throughout project delivery lifecycle
- Provide subject matter expertise on secure-by-design principles
- Work with technology teams to develop and assure security controls across cloud, SaaS, endpoint, identity and data protection platforms
- Influence architecture decisions through risk-based security recommendations
What we're looking for
We're keen to speak with security professionals who have strong experience across the Microsoft security ecosystem, including Defender, Purview, EntraID, Intune as well as being fully conversant in IAM, Security Monitoring and Incident Response.
Ideal Background
- Experience in a Security Operations, Cyber Security Engineering or Security Specialist role
- Strong understanding of enterprise security controls and modern cloud security practices
- Experience providing security input into projects, solution design and architecture discussions
