As a trusted HR generalist, the People Administrator will provide advice and guidance across a broad range of people matters while ensuring the effective administration of key people processes and activities.

This includes supporting recruitment and onboarding, employee and volunteer engagement, learning and development, performance management, wellbeing, employee relations, reward, and payroll.

Key Accountabilities

  • To provide a professional and responsive HR service to managers, employees and volunteers across the museum.
  • Act as first point of contact for day-to-day people queries, providing advice and guidance on policies, procedures, and employment related matters, escalating more complex issues when required.
  • Assist in the monthly payroll process.
  • Support managers throughout the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, probation management, performance discussions, development and offboarding.
  • Co-ordinate recruitment activities, including setting up vacancies, managing candidate communication, on-boarding and supporting pre-employment checks.
  • Administer the onboarding process for new employees and volunteers, ensuring all documentation, systems and induction activities are completed.
  • Maintain accurate employee and volunteer records.
  • Support the administration of employee relations matters, including preparing letters, arranging meetings, maintaining records and taking accurate notes where required.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to apprentices across the museum.
  • Co-ordinate work experience placements, including communicating with students, schools and internal departments.
  • Maintain accurate training records.

What you will bring

Essential

  • CIPD Level 3.
  • Experience of working in a generalist HR role.
  • Experience providing advice, guidance or support to managers, employees, volunteers.
  • The ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Experience of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Good Microsoft word and excel skills.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting employee relation processes such as absence, disciplinary, grievance or performance matters.
  • Experience of Sage 50 payroll.
  • Experience of recruitment and onboarding activities.
  • The ability to manage HR databases.

Due to the nature of this role you will be required to work on-site. Hybrid or home workers will not be considered.
