We are looking for an experienced Programme Manager to lead a portfolio of series production and in-service support programmes, ensuring equipment is delivered, maintained and supported throughout its lifecycle.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role within a growing defence engineering business supporting critical maritime and defence capability.
The Role
As a Programme Manager, you will take ownership of a portfolio of production and support programmes, ensuring safe, predictable and profitable delivery from manufacture through commissioning, upgrades and long-term customer support.
Working across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial, Finance, Quality and the PMO, you will lead programme delivery, manage customer relationships and drive continuous improvement whilst developing a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Through Life Support portfolio to achieve revenue, margin, cash flow, delivery and customer performance objectives.
- Manage series production programmes, ensuring manufacturing, supply chain and testing activities meet contractual commitments.
- Deliver through-life support activities including spares, repairs, maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, field service and life extension programmes.
- Develop accurate programme forecasts covering cost, schedule, cash flow, risks and opportunities.
- Manage programme governance including planning, baselines, change control, risk management and reporting.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, acting as the senior interface throughout programme delivery.
- Support business growth through bid leadership, proposal development and identification of follow-on opportunities.
- Drive improvements in on-time delivery, quality, customer satisfaction and operational performance.
- Lead, coach and develop Project Managers, Coordinators and Field Service personnel, building capability and succession plans across the team.
- Work collaboratively with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Commercial and PMO functions to ensure successful programme delivery.
About You
You will be an experienced Programme Manager with a strong commercial mindset and proven success delivering complex engineering programmes within highly regulated industries.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven Programme Management experience delivering complex engineering or manufacturing programmes.
- Experience within Defence, Maritime, Aerospace or another highly regulated industry.
- Strong leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent commercial and financial management skills including forecasting, revenue, margin, cash flow and contract management.
- Experience delivering series production and through-life support programmes.
- Knowledge of commissioning, field service, maintenance, repairs, spares or long-term support contracts.
- Strong understanding of project governance, planning, change control and risk management.
- Excellent customer-facing, communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Business, Project Management or equivalent experience.
Desirable
- APM PMQ, PMP, Chartered Project Professional or equivalent qualification.
- Defence or maritime experience within security-controlled environments.
- Experience with obsolescence management, product upgrades and safety-critical equipment.
- Knowledge of ERP systems such as IFS or similar project management systems.
