Purpose

The Office Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day office, HR, finance and compliance functions of the business.

Working within a small, hands-on team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, the role requires a high level of autonomy, personal accountability, and the ability to ensure critical business processes are delivered accurately, efficiently, and on time.

Combining strong HR, organisational and operational skills with a practical, hands-on approach, the postholder will partner with colleagues across the organisation to strengthen people practices, support the effective running of office and operational functions, ensure compliance, and contribute to a positive, productive working environment.

Responsibilities

HR & People Management

  • Lead the administration of Bright HR, ensuring accurate management of attendance, leave, employee records, training and performance processes.
  • Manage HR policies, procedures, employee records, contracts, right-to-work documentation, training records and compliance documentation.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for employees and managers, providing guidance on day-to-day HR matters and supporting the fair and consistent management of employee relations issues, including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance matters.
  • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding and induction activities, ensuring new employees receive the support and information needed to succeed.
  • Coordinate appraisal, performance and development processes, supporting managers to track objectives and development plans.
  • Manage internal and external training activities, including compliance, safety and technical training.
  • Operations & Office Management
  • Coordinate communication across production, technical and office teams, ensuring information is shared clearly and consistently through channels including email, noticeboards, Bright HR and team briefings.
  • Communicate business updates, policy changes, health and safety information and company announcements.
  • Coordinate planned maintenance activities for machinery and facilities.
  • Ensure business processes, records and office resources are maintained accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain a safe, organised and efficient office environment.
  • Finance & Business Administration
  • Manage rent invoicing, customer account reconciliations and credit control activities.
  • Complete bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Produce spending reports and identify significant trends or concerns.
  • Maintain accurate financial and business documentation to support operational and compliance requirements.
