Transforming Oxford Street is one of the UK’s most exciting regeneration programmes, contributing significantly to London’s economy and its global reputation. The successful candidate will lead strategic communications, marketing, and events to support the area’s transformation into a world-class, pedestrianised public realm, engaging stakeholders and enhancing its status as a premier destination.

Role Overview: The Talent Set are delighted to partner with OSDC on recruiting a fantastic Interim Head of Communications, Marketing and Events role. This pivotal position involves leading multifaceted campaigns and events to showcase Oxford Street’s ongoing regeneration, fostering engagement with diverse audiences and supporting the growth of the local community and economy.

The period of this contract will likely see the first phase of Oxford Street pedestrianisation, following an announcement from the Mayor of London that we are aiming for the first phase to go traffic-free by the end of Summer 2026. This interim role will be responsible for driving the comms, marketing and events around this pivotal, high profile moment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute integrated communications, marketing, and events plans aligned with the Oxford Street transformation strategy.
  • Craft a proactive media plan, including digital, social media, and advertising campaigns, to reach wide audiences locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Lead the design and delivery of innovative engagement activities and live events on Oxford Street, collaborating with partners and commercial sponsors.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including government bodies, local authorities, community groups, and private partners, ensuring inclusive engagement.
  • Oversee external agencies across PR, media planning, creative, and experiential marketing to deliver high-impact campaigns.
  • Guide a small team, managing resources and budgets effectively to maximise impact and value for money.
  • Promote diversity and inclusivity through all activities, ensuring the needs of London’s diverse communities are reflected and supported.

Person Specification:

  • Proven experience leading large-scale, high-profile communication and marketing campaigns with a wide audience reach.
  • Extensive background in managing major public-facing events, including working with agencies and external partners.
  • Strong ability to develop stakeholder relationships across government, community, and commercial sectors.
  • Demonstrable expertise in digital media strategy, social media, and content creation.
  • Skilled at managing teams and external suppliers within complex organisational structures.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, decision-making skills, and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and engaging diverse communities.

What’s on Offer:

  • Length: 6 months
  • Salary: £81,138 - £84,415 pro rata. Day rate equivalent considered
  • Hybrid Working: 2-3 days a week in Central London
