The Talent Movement is supporting a growing business looking to bring in an IT Technician to become a key part of their internal team. This is an IT Support opportunity within a business experiencing significant growth and expansion across a range of complex, technology‑led environments. This isn’t a traditional “sit and reset passwords all day” support role. You’ll be joining a business of around 60 people where technology is becoming increasingly central to how they scale. Alongside supporting day‑to‑day users, there are plans around AI adoption, process improvement, collaboration tools and building smarter internal systems. They’re looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving things and bringing ideas to the table rather than simply waiting for tickets to land. Initially, the focus will be on delivering reliable day‑to‑day support and becoming the go‑to person for colleagues in the Edinburgh office and the wider business. Longer term, there is genuine opportunity to influence processes and support wider technology initiatives.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing first‑line support across hardware, software and user issues
- Setting up and troubleshooting laptops, desktops, devices and peripherals
- Supporting onboarding and offboarding processes including accounts and access permissions
- Supporting Microsoft 365 environments including email, user access and collaboration tools
- Assisting with software management and patching
- Troubleshooting basic networking issues
- Supporting internal documentation and process improvements
- Identifying recurring issues and proactively suggesting better ways of working
- Supporting wider business technology initiatives as the company continues to grow.
Tech environment:
- Microsoft 365 / Office 365
- SharePoint
- Active Directory and user management tools
The business is also exploring broader AI adoption and bespoke internal systems in the future.
What they’re looking for:
You don’t need to tick every technical box. Attitude, curiosity and approach matter just as much as experience. They’re keen to speak with people who have:
- Experience supporting hardware and software environments
- Understanding of Microsoft 365 / Office 365
- Exposure to networking fundamentals such as IP addressing, DNS and DHCP
- Basic Windows and/or Linux knowledge
- Experience with Active Directory or user account management
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Great communication and customer service skills
Alongside technical skills, they’re looking for someone who:
- Is proactive and enjoys improving things
- Comes with ideas rather than waiting to be told
- Can adapt in a growing environment
- Wants to learn and develop
- Enjoys being part of a collaborative team
This could suit someone currently in an IT Support, Service Desk, Helpdesk, Junior Infrastructure or IT Technician role who wants broader exposure and the chance to grow with a business.
Whats on offer:
- Enhanced pension scheme – currently matching contributions at 6%, increasing to a maximum of 9% by 2027
- Bupa Private Medical Insurance scheme
- Octopus Electric Vehicle salary sacrifice scheme
- Cycle to work scheme
- EAP (Employee Assistance Programme) – access to free and confidential counselling and other wellbeing resources
- 30 days holiday (including bank holidays) and additional paid leave over the festive period, plus one extra day holiday for every full year
