Are you an agency recruiter who loves the client side – winning business, building relationships, and closing deals – but could do without the candidate side of the process? If yes, this could be just what you’ve been waiting for. The Talent Bridge are recruiting on behalf of a government-approved Flexi-Job Apprenticeship Agency who are looking for a Business Development Manager to join their sales team and open new employer partnerships across England.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll introduce employers to a Flexi-Job Apprenticeship model created by the government in 2021 as a flexible alternative to the traditional apprenticeship route. The flexi-job model allows employers (hosts) to take on apprentices without the host becoming the employer themselves. The client employs the apprentice, handles payroll, HR, compliance and safeguarding, and coordinates with the external apprenticeship training provider. Host employers provide the day‑to‑day workplace and pay a service fee, without taking on employment admin, liabilities or long‑term commitments that usually come with an apprenticeship. So your role is to open conversations with employers, understand their workforce needs, explain how the flexi-job model supports them, and secure new host placements for apprentices on the scheme. You’ll manage the employer relationship from first contact through to sign‑up, while the internal apprentice recruitment team handles all candidate sourcing and matching. That’s right – this is a pure business development and client management role, with no candidate recruitment. The role is home‑based with virtual and face‑to‑face client meetings. You’ll also spend one day in the Central London office every fortnight, so we’re only looking to speak to people who are able to travel into London for a full office day once a fortnight.
Why Move From Agency Recruitment to a Training Provider?
It’s a great opportunity to use your recruitment experience in a way that creates real social impact. My client is highly respected in the sector and has been recognised with awards including: Best Training Provider for 2024/25 (Rate My Apprenticeship) Leaders in Safeguarding Gold.
Earnings and Commission
Commission is paid per vacancy you open with an employer and continues for every month the apprentice remains in that placement. As you open more vacancies, your commission accumulates. If you hit the minimum target of 4 vacancies per month, you can expect, on top of your salary: (Most people in this role exceed the minimum target, with the average commission take‑home in year one sitting at around £14,000.)
Who We’re Looking For
We’re keen to speak to 360 recruiters or consultants with strong business development experience, particularly those used to:
- Filling higher‑volume or entry‑level roles
- Winning new business and managing client relationships
You’ll need:
- 2+ years’ proven recruitment sales experience (360 or pure BD within an agency)
- Strong communication skills and confidence engaging senior decision‑makers
- The ability to work autonomously and manage your own schedule
Who We’re NOT Looking For
- HR, internal recruitment or talent acquisition backgrounds
