Origins Design is an established bespoke furniture design and manufacturing business based in the SW London / Surrey area, with in-house production teams creating high-end fitted and freestanding furniture for premium residential projects.

This is a senior, hands-on technical design role taking client concepts from initial brief through to manufacture and installation. You will produce accurate 2D/3D CAD and detailed technical production packs, lead technical problem solving, and work closely with directors and in-house workshop teams (joinery and upholstery) to ensure designs are buildable, accurate and delivered to deadline.

Key responsibilities:
  • Design bespoke fitted and freestanding furniture (joinery and upholstery).
  • Develop client concepts into manufacturable solutions, producing accurate 2D/3D CAD models.
  • Produce detailed technical drawings and full production packs for all departments across the manufacturing cycle.
  • Lead technical problem solving and resolve buildability issues with workshop teams.
  • Conduct site surveys and translate measurements/constraints into final production information.
  • Liaise with clients and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Produce material take-offs/BOMs; support ordering, costs and quotations as required.
  • Coordinate projects from enquiry through to installation, maintaining quality and deadlines.
  • Support Company Directors with technical input, planning and prioritisation where needed.
Essential experience & skills:
  • Proven experience as a Furniture Designer / CAD Technician within bespoke furniture (high-end / luxury preferred).
  • Strong technical background and detailed knowledge of bespoke furniture construction and production.
  • Solid understanding of joinery and upholstery manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Advanced CAD capability using SolidWorks and/or Rhinoceros (Rhino) with confidence producing manufacturing-ready drawings.
  • Demonstrable ability to solve technical challenges and communicate solutions clearly to production teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluent spoken and written English.
  • Right to live and work in the UK.
  • Full UK driving licence desirable (site surveys).

Working pattern: Studio/workshop based (on-site) in the SW London / Surrey area.
