Are you an experienced upholsterer looking for a permanent workshop role producing high-quality, interesting work? A well-established contract furniture manufacturer based in Durham is looking for two Upholsterers to join their skilled workshop team.
The company specialises in the design and production of bespoke contract seating and chairs for the hospitality, commercial and corporate sectors every piece is crafted to order. This is hands-on work combining traditional upholstery skills with modern materials and finishes.
What the role involves:
Upholstering standard and bespoke chairs, sofas, booths and banquette seating to precise client specifications. Cutting, sewing and fitting fabrics, leathers and synthetic coverings to a high standard. Applying foams, padding, webbing, springs and other internal components. Reading and working from technical drawings, patterns and cutting plans. Carrying out high-quality finishing including buttoning, piping and detailing. Inspecting completed work to ensure it meets quality standards. Collaborating with the wider workshop team and management to meet production deadlines. Maintaining a tidy, safe and organised working environment.
What we are looking for:
Proven experience as an upholsterer sewing skills are advantageous. Strong knowledge of upholstery techniques, materials and tools. Ability to accurately interpret drawings, patterns and specifications. High attention to detail and genuine pride in delivering a quality finish. Experience working with a variety of fabrics and leathers. Ability to work well both independently and as part of a close-knit team.
What is on offer:
Upto £16.00 per hour. Permanent, full-time position. Hours are Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00. Overtime is available based on the volume of orders. 28 days holiday including bank holidays.
