Upholstery Technician – Employed or Self-Employed (Realistic Earnings up to £55,000 per year)

Are you an experienced upholsterer who enjoys working on the road, solving problems on-site and getting well paid for it?

  • Employed Upholstery Technician: £35,000 base salary with realistic earnings of £45,000–£55,000+ through regular overtime.
  • Self-Employed Upholstery Technician: £220 per day (negotiable) with fuel support on longer-distance work (circa £60,000 OTE based on a full schedule).

You’ll be working on commercial upholstery in a variety of hospitality and commercial venues – pubs, clubs, hotels, restaurants and other hospitality sites – with a steady flow of work all year round.

On-site repair and restoration of commercial upholstery and furniture in hospitality and contract environments. Cutting, sewing, top-stitching, quilted work and button-back upholstery, using a mobile sewing setup where required. Travelling independently to different venues; some projects will involve occasional overnight stays (fully covered when employed).

Producing high-quality, professional work, often to tight timescales, while maintaining a friendly, customer-focused approach.

  • Solid experience as an Upholstery Technician / Upholsterer in commercial furniture production, installation or restoration.
  • Confident using mobile sewing machines for top-stitch, quilted and button-back work.
  • Organised, reliable and able to work independently on-site with minimal supervision.

For contractors: you will need your own van and tools, with additional fuel support on longer journeys.

  • Employed Upholstery Technician: Unlimited overtime with current team earnings typically around £45,000–£55,000+ per year. Fuel card, tools, travel expenses, parking and accommodation all covered. Regular work with established commercial clients and a supportive operations team behind you.
  • Self-Employed Upholstery Technician (Contractor): Fuel top-up support for longer-distance jobs. Keep control of your own workload while plugging into a steady stream of commercial projects. Ideal if you already run a small upholstery business and want consistent, well-paid contract work without chasing invoices.

Someone who enjoys variety, travelling to different sites, and seeing the results of their work immediately. A technician who prefers the stability and security of a permanent role with benefits, or a contractor who enjoys the freedom and higher day-rate model but still wants reliable work from a trusted partner.
