We have an immediate requirement for an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the efficient running of our Operations and Ministries at The Tab Church, London - a transgenerational, multicultural inner-city church with both a vibrant in-person community and a growing national and global reach.
This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth coordination, organisation, and delivery of operational and ministry activities that support the church’s Sunday services and key events. The Operations Manager will lead and support our dedicated operations teams serving across all ministries, working with volunteers, staff, and freelance contributors where required.
This includes overseeing planning cycles, service delivery, resource allocation, and team coordination to ensure the consistent execution of services, events, conferences, and wider church initiatives. Working closely with ministry team leaders and senior leadership, the Operations Manager will ensure the timely delivery of all activities, supporting work that is meaningful, culturally relevant, and consistently delivered with excellence.
- Set clear objectives, delegate tasks effectively, and manage performance of staff, contractors & volunteers to ensure alignment with and delivery of ministry responsibilities.
- Provide strong leadership, guidance, and support to operational department leads, staff and volunteer ministry leaders.
- Oversee supervision, performance management, and appraisal processes for the operations staff, volunteers and ministry teams.
- Identify training and development needs across staff and volunteers, ensuring appropriate training is delivered (e.g., Safeguarding, First Aid, Food Hygiene).
- Manage volunteer support services, ensuring accurate volunteer data and effective administrative processes.
- Oversee the operational logistics and delivery of Sunday services and key events, ensuring a smooth, welcoming, and high-quality experience for volunteers and attendees.
- Be present and actively lead operations during Sunday services and key events.
- Develop and execute detailed plans, timelines, and run sheets for key events and special services (e.g. seasonal gatherings, conferences).
Data Management & Reporting
- Produce regular reports on operational and quality KPIs, including recommendations and solutions for improvement.
Financial Management
- Ensure confidentiality of all financial contributions and sensitive information.
Property & Facilities Management
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and workplace wellbeing guidance, escalating concerns as necessary.
- Coordinate mandatory annual compliance testing (e.g., CCTV, Gas Safety, Fire Systems, PAT Testing).
- Ensure maintenance volunteers and contractors adhere to reporting procedures, with issues addressed promptly.
- Manage building improvements, contractor bookings, and procurement of quotes.
- Ensure all Health & Safety requirements, risk assessments, and compliance checks are implemented, regularly reviewed, and actioned.
- Oversee all aspects of building management across sites.
- Uphold The Tab Church’s Equal Opportunities Policy and all other relevant organisational policies.
- Manage DBS applications and provide support to the recruitment team when necessary.
Proven experience in operations management, project management, or a similar leadership role.
Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Health & Safety training.
Experience overseeing Health & Safety or facilities in a multi-site organisation.
Comfortable working in a church/Christian environment and context, respect and in sympathy with the Christian faith and values.
