We are looking for a person with substantial experience in marine insurance and/or maritime law who is interested in working in our Oslo or London office, handling P&I and FD&D claims with a focus on charterers and traders and their insurance needs.

Work Description

  • Handling P&I and FD&D claims
  • Providing insurance, operational, loss prevention, and related advice to our assureds
  • Staying abreast of developments affecting our assureds, especially charterers and traders, and sharing that competence within and outside the Club
  • Mentoring of colleagues
  • Supporting business development, underwriting, and product development
  • Traveling where necessary (domestically and internationally)

Place of work

The place of work is our office in Oslo or London.

Qualifications

  • Experience in dealing with insurance claims is necessary.
  • The successful applicant should have an absolute minimum of five years of direct experience handling P&I and FD&D claims with a P&I Club, or otherwise will have a legal background handling shipping claims for a law firm or shipping company.
  • Good knowledge of marine law is essential.
  • Qualified English solicitors and candidates with experience of handling charterers' liability claims will be considered favorably.
  • You must be fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • You need to understand technical and legal documents and explain complex matters both verbally and in writing.
  • A sense of good order and structure is important, as is a consistent approach.
  • The job also requires a positive, committed, and ‘can-do’ approach.
  • Much of the job is carried out on a team basis, and you need good social and cultural skills.
